Yemen: Saudi Arabia carries out strikes on Sana'a airport, state media say

(Reuters) – The Saudi-led coalition intervening militarily in Yemen on Monday carried out airstrikes against the international airport in the capital Sana’a, controlled by the Shiite Houthi movement, after calling on civilians to ” evacuate the scene, state media reported.

Employees of international and humanitarian organizations were asked to immediately evacuate the airport, Saudi coalition having announced that it had taken “legal measures to deal with the threat in an operational manner.”

The coalition declared that the specific protections of the airport had been lifted so that it could carry out strikes on “legitimate military targets” there.

“This operation was carried out in response to threats and the use of the airport as a launching site for cross-border attacks, “she said.
