Does it work on the third attempt ?: Vonovia publishes a new offer for the takeover of Deutsche Wohnen
As announced, the Vonovia housing group is starting the third attempt on the takeover of Deutsche Wohnen.
Vonovia officially announced the new offer on Thursday, which is to be sent to the shareholders of Deutsche Wohnen. You are to receive 50 euros per share, one euro more than the previous offer, which failed to meet the minimum acceptance threshold at the end of July.
The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bafin) had to exempt Vonovia from the one-year statutory blocking period before the group could officially submit the new takeover offer. The Bafin did this on Thursday, Vonovia announced.
A minimum acceptance threshold of 50 percent applies – this is how many shares in Deutsche Wohnen have to be offered to Vonovia. In the previous attempt Vonovia only 47, 62 Percent of the shares tendered.
The two real estate companies had agreed on a merger at the end of May – after two failed one Takeover attempt, the first never being officially confirmed. Vonovia’s portfolio comprises a total of around 354. 000 residential units , Deutsche Wohnen owns around 155. 000 rental apartments , about 70 percent of them in Berlin.
