iOS was indeed the star of the WWDC event organized by Apple in June. Nevertheless, the Cupertino company also made a very strong impression during the presentation of the new version of macOS, macOS Monterey .
And among the new products presented, there was Universal Control. “Universal Control allows you to work successively on Mac and iPad with the same mouse and the same keyboard, perfectly fluidly and without any prior configuration. This feature even offers the ability to drag and drop content from one device to another, which is ideal for sketching a design with Apple Pencil on the iPad and then adding it to a Keynote slide on the Mac ” , explained the Cupertino company.
For those who are already used to using their iPad as a second screen for a Mac, this functionality is eagerly awaited. But unfortunately, Universal Control is still not available, although macOS Monterey has already been released in a stable version.
And unfortunately, it will still take patience to enjoy it. Indeed, if no announcement has been made concerning the postponement of the launch of this new feature for Macs , the macOS Monterey website now indicates that Universal Control will only be available in the spring 2021. In the meantime, you’ll have to settle for Sidecar, a feature (from Apple, not a third-party app) already available that allows you to use an iPad as a second screen for your Mac.
Note also that many features presented by Apple in June 2021 are still not available, while iOS 15 and macOS Monterey have already been launched. Among these is the feature to digitally store IDs in the Wallet app.
This was announced at the WWDC conference for iOS 15, in the USA. But it won’t be available until next year.
