PSG: Navas positive for Covid-19 and package against Brest

Costa Rican PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas tested positive for Covid-19. He will therefore miss the reception of the Stade Brestois this Saturday (21h) on behalf of the 21 e day of Ligue 1.

The choice for the position of goalkeeper will be easy to make for Mauricio Pochettino. Positive for the coronavirus, Keylor Navas is forfeited for the reception of Brest this Saturday (21h) on behalf of the 21e day of Ligue 1. The Costa Rican, that Newcastle would have liked to bring this winter, started last weekend against Lyon.

“He has been placed in solitary confinement and is subject to the adapted health protocol. Lucas Lavallée replaces him in the squad for the match against Brest tonight,” said PSG in a communicated. Aged 18 years, Lavallée will serve as third goalkeeper in the absence of Alexandre Letellier (calf). Sergio Rico will be the understudy of Gianluigi Donnarumma, who tested positive last week but is already back in the group.

Still several absent

PSG has not been spared by the Covid-19 in recent weeks. Lionel Messi, affected during the winter break, is not recovered at 100% and “will reintegrate the group gradually next week”. Juan Bernat, “as part of post Covid-19 monitoring, will be spared this weekend pending further examinations at the start of the week”, said also specified the PSG in a press release.

Tested positive last week, Angel Di Maria is on the other hand registered in the group called to face Brest at the Parc des Princes. PSG is also still deprived of Neymar, recovering a month and a half after a sprained left ankle. He must also make Achraf Hakimi, Abdou Diallo and Idrissa Gueye, all three engaged in the African Cup of Nations.

Solid leader of the championship, but held in check in his last two outings against Lorient (1-1) and Lyon (1-1), Paris will want to regain an eleven point lead over its runner-up Nice, who brought down Nantes on Friday (2-1).
