OM-Reims: Abdelhamid believes he was “stolen a bit” from Payet's penalty

OM snatched the point from a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night at the Vélodrome, thanks to a penalty obtained in additional time by Dimitri Payet. Reims defender Yunis Abdelhamid believes his team was robbed of this decision.

Stade de Reims led 1-0 at the Stade Vélodrome in added time, until what the referee whistles a penalty for OM after a contact in the area between Dimitri Payet and Andrew Gravillon. The Marseille captain, while attempting a diving header, was struck by the foot of the defender from Reims. He then transformed the penalty to bring OM back to 1-1 .

“I have not seen the images but hot, we are a little stolen, reacted Yunis Abdelhamid, the captain of Stade de Reims , at the microphone of Prime Video after the shot final whistle. Andrew is in the duel at the head, he only looks at the ball, he does not look at Payet. It’s hard to get caught on a mistake like that. ”

“The last decision of the referee deprives us of the victory”

After the contact and the decision of the referee, Abdelhamid, captain of Reims , had a discussion with the official. But he was not convinced. “The ref tells me that Payet gets a kick from Andrew, he said. But Andrew is really playing the ball so to kick Payet, it was a bit complicated. it is involuntary, he does not see it, he only looks at the ball. ”

After having conceded the draw, the Rémois could not digest this contentious decision. “For the moment it’s really a mixed feeling, concluded the defender of Reims despite the point of a draw against a big one in the championship. We have the impression of being robbed.”

At a press conference, Oscar Garcia , the Stade de Reims coach, was also frustrated. “The last decision of the referee deprives us of victory. (…) If you have the personality to whistle for Marseille, you must have it to whistle the other (during a duel between Caleta-Car and Ekitike, editor’s note). ”
