OM: Longoria rules out leaving Milik or Dieng this winter

The arrival of Cédric Bakambu (30 years old) will not lead to the departure of Arkadiusz Milik, a bit disappointing this season, or Bamba Dieng. Pablo Longoria, president of OM, assured him, this Friday at a press conference.

OM presented their first recruit from the winter transfer window, this Friday. Free since his departure from Beijing Guoan, Cédric Bakambu (30 years old) has signed up until 2024. And he arrives to strengthen the offensive sector, not to replace a potential departure even if that of Dario Benedetto towards Boca Juniors is on the right track. But the Argentinian is not in the rotation this season since he is loaned to Elche.

Despite their very limited room for maneuver economically, OM will not sell an attacker like Arkadiusz Milik or Bamba Dieng to finance the salary of the former Sochalien.

“Absolutely not, assured Pablo Longoria, president of OM, this Friday. Since the beginning , we say we need this type of attacking player profile.” The manager sees the former Villarreal player as the perfect complement to the current Marseille attackers.

“An increasingly rare profile to find”

“Cédric has played like that throughout his career, underlines the Spanish technician. I remember how he played at Bursaspor, as a winger, or in Spain when he played with Soldado as a second striker. He sometimes played with Léo Baptistao where he did the job as the first striker. Same in the national team (of the DR Congo) with Mbokani who was more at the forefront and played around him. It is a profile that offers a lot of individual solutions “It’s a very difficult striker profile to find in the current market. This profile of a second striker who can play in different positions is increasingly rare to find.”
