Microsoft has not given up all hope of standing up against the domination of Google and Facebook in online advertising. More than ten years after relying on its search engine Bing, the Redmond company has just bought the Xandr advertising targeting platform from the American telecoms giant AT&T. The timing is right as the online advertising market is taking full advantage of the e-commerce boom following last year’s lockdowns.

The financial terms of the transaction are unofficial. But according to the Bloomberg agency, Xandr is worth around a billion dollars.
