Mercato: Slimani close to being loaned by OL to Sporting

Algerian international Islam Slimani is very close to being loaned by OL to Sporting Portugal, where he has already played between 2013 and 2016.

Islam Slimani back in a club he knows well? As announced by the Portuguese daily A Bola, the striker 33 year-old Algerian is very close to being loaned to Sporting by OL. Islam Slimani has played matches this season in all competitions with Les Gones (4 goals, 1 assist) and has been unconvincing since his arrival in Lyon.

Things are happening at OL

Left to compete in the CAN (January 9-February 6), Islam Slimani left Cameroon earlier than he had hoped, after the early elimination of the Algerians, however announced as the favorites of the competition. Beaten last Thursday by Côte d’Ivoire (3-1), they were finally eliminated in the group stages. Islam Slimani therefore returned to Lyon and was present at training on Thursday.

Islam Slimani has already worn the colors of Sporting, between 2013 and 2016, with whom he won the Cup and the Supercup of Portugal in 2015. He then took the direction of Leicester.

The transfer window promises to be active in Lyon in the coming days. As explained by RMC Sport, OL and Newcastle have reached an agreement for the transfer of Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian midfielder, currently in selection, could pass his medical examination in South America, before engaging with the Magpies. In the direction of arrivals, Lyon have identified the Brestois Romain Faivre, 8 goals and 6 assists this season, and have started concrete negotiations to bring him from Brest.
