Mercato: Guardiola admits Torres' departure for Barça is “close”

The arrival of Ferran Torres at FC Barcelona is almost complete. Even Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola confirmed at a press conference that the Spaniard is “close” to joining Catalonia.

Ferran Torres is set to return in Spain. A year and a half after leaving Valencia for Manchester City, the 21 -year-old player is expected to join FC Barcelona against a check of approximately 21 million euros, plus 10 millions of bonuses. The transfer is not yet official, but Pep Guardiola , the coach of the Cityzens, confirmed it half-heartedly on Thursday at a press conference. “It’s not officially done, I know they are negotiating, it’s close”, explained the Catalan. In Manchester, Guardiola transformed Torres into a versatile player, able to play a scorer in addition to a winger. But he claims to be “happy” for his player, come to see him and ask him to leave once Barça’s interest has been shown.

One less option in tip for Guardiola

“Absolutely not” disappointed by the departure of Torres, Guardiola however assured that Manchester City would not recruit a striker during the winter transfer window. The Spaniard will not be replaced digitally, despite there being no scoring crowd at the club. Apart from Gabriel Jesus, there is no professional center forward in the workforce.

Not a problem for Guardiola, used to aligning Sterling, Mahrez, Foden, De Bruyne or Silva in tip when necessary. It is now Xavi , pupil of Pep, who should therefore benefit from Ferran Torres for the years to come.
