Manchester United will be expected to sign a few players in the upcoming summer transfer window as they look to strengthen the squad further.
The Red Devils might be having one of their best seasons in quite some time but the ultimate aim of the club will surely be to return to the top of English football and challenge for the Champions League on a consistent basis once again. In that regard, they are still quite a few steps away.
One player who they have been linked with in recent times is Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez. The versatile Spaniard’s contract is set to run out at the end of this season and as a result, a number of clubs are naturally interested in his signature.
He has been a massive part of Zinedine Zidane’s team this season as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 2 goals and provided 8 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions through the course of the current campaign.
Manchester United handed Vazquez blow
Naturally, this will come as a blow to Manchester United, who were just one of the many clubs who were being linked with a move for Vazquez. And it is not hard to see why some of the biggest teams in Europe would be interested in signing him.
Versatility is perhaps Vazquez’s biggest strength. He is capable of playing all across the right side of the pitch and even as a left winger if the situation calls for it. Thus, he could have been played a big part in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, as they need a new right winger as well as a back up right-back to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
