How to Backup iPhone to Dropbox?

  • Click Back up now.

How to Backup iPhone

Buy Dropbox space

  • Open Dropbox.  Go to http://dropbox.com/ in your web browser  . If you are signed in to Dropbox, this will open the home page.
  • If you are not logged in, click Login in the upper right corner of the page and enter your e-mail address and password.
  • If you haven’t signed up for Dropbox, please create an account before continuing.
  • If you’ve already purchased the Dropbox space, you can skip to the last step of this section.

Click Expand Account. It is a light blue link in the upper right corner of the page. Doing so will take you to a page with a list of various Dropbox packages.

Select the ” Plus ” package. Click the blue Get Started button under the ” Plus ” header at the top of the page .

Click Choose your plan. This is a gray button on the right side of the page.

Enter your payment details. In the “Enter payment details” section, add the following information:

Upload the backup file to Dropbox in Windows

Open Start

Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

Open File Explorer

Click the folder icon in the lower left corner of the Start window.

Click This Team.

It is the computer icon on the far left of the File Explorer window.
You may need to scroll up or down using the sidebar on the left to see this Team.

Double click on your computer’s hard drive. The hard drive is usually labeled OS (C :). This will open the folder on your computer’s hard drive.

If you don’t see anything in the list under the ” Devices and drivers ” heading, double-click the title first.

Enables viewing of hidden folders. Click the View tab at the top of the File Explorer window, then check the “Hidden Items” box in the “Show / Hide” section.

Double click the Users folder. You will find this at the top of the hard drive folder. Doing so will open a list of all users who have access to this computer.
Double click on your user folder. This is the folder with your username (or the first few letters of your username).

Explore the iPhone Backups folder. To do this, click on the following folders:

Double click on the AppData folder.
Double click the roaming folder.
Double click on the Apple Computer folder.
Double-click the MobileSync folder.
Double click on the backup folder.

Find the most recent backup. The easiest way to do this is by right-clicking an empty space in the window, selecting the Sort By option from the pop-up menu, and clicking Change from the drop-down menu.

Click on Date. This places the most recent backup in the upper part of the window (or in the upper left corner of the window if the files are not organized in a list format).

You can lock the File Explorer window next to the Dropbox window by clicking the top of the File Explorer window and dragging it to the far left of the screen, dropping it there, and selecting the window where Dropbox is located.

Wait for the backup to finish installing. This can take several hours, so make sure your computer is online and has a good internet connection. When the installation is complete, you can close the Dropbox window.
If you need to download the backup file at any time, click ⋯ to the right of the file name in Dropbox, then click Download from the drop-down menu.

Upload the backup file to Dropbox on Mac

Go to the desktop or the Finder. This will bring up the Go menu item at the top of the Mac screen.

Back up individual iPhone files

Install the Dropbox app on iPhone. If you don’t have the Dropbox app yet, open the App Store app

on iPhone and do the following:

Press Search.

Press the search bar.

Type dropbox and press call.

Tap GET to the right of the “Dropbox” header.
Enter your Apple ID or Touch ID when prompted.

Open Dropbox. When Dropbox has finished downloading, press OPEN to the right of its title in the App Store. Alternatively, which is a white open box on a dark blue background

Tap the Dropbox app icon.

Sign in to your Dropbox account. Tap Sign in at the bottom of the page, then enter the email address and password you use for Dropbox.

You will need to click continue basic plan, if prompted, before continuing.

Click Create. This is the + symbol at the bottom of the screen. A popup menu will appear.

Choose an option to upload files. In the pop-up menu, tap one of the following options:

Upload photos.

It allows you to upload photos from the Photos app on your iPhone.
Create or upload a file.

It lets you upload another file (for example a PDF) from an image from the Files app on iPhone.

Select the files you want to upload. If you upload photos, tap each photo you want to upload to select multiple photos.

If you clicked Create or upload file in the last step, you must first click Upload file and then click Browse in the menu.

Upload files. Tap Next (for photos only) in the upper right corner of the screen, then tap Upload in the upper right corner of the screen. The files will start uploading to Dropbox.

Tips

  • To use Dropbox backup on a computer, you must first create the Backups folder by creating a backup of iPhone on a computer, then save the backup on the computer.
  • You have to download it from Dropbox and move it to this folder. You can choose the backup in iTunes from here.
  • When you upload a file to Dropbox, only you can see it, unless you decide to share it with others.

Warnings

  • There is no way to directly backup iPhone to Dropbox like you do on iCloud or computer.
  • Uploading files to Dropbox via Wi-Fi connection is better than cell phone data.
