Friday 14 January 2022, during a discussion with teachers in Honnecourt-sur-Escaut (North), the far-right candidate explained that he wanted to attend schools in apart from students with disabilities: ” We actually need specialized establishments, except for people with slight disabilities of course”.

Apology request

The Secretary of State for Disability Sophie Cluzel lambasted this Saturday on Twitter ” a pitiful statement “. “Very angry” on BFMTV, she criticized a ” miserable vision” and “exclusive ” of the disability. “Of course it’s complicated, but it’s really an honor for France to be able to educate these children with others, in the midst of others” , a- she added.



Damien Abad, president of the LR deputies in the National Assembly, and himself with a disability , also reacted about Eric Zemmour. In a tweet published on Friday evening, he accused the former columnist for CNews of wanting to “exclude from mainstream school” disabled children, but also of “segregation on all floors”. He demanded a “public apology”.

Faced with the controversy, Eric Zemmour spoke in a series of tweets this Saturday morning. “For the education of children with disabilities, I want adapted, personalized and flexible solutions: we must act with realism and generosity “, he explained, qualifying his remarks made the day before.
