On its website, the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) warns against vasoconstrictors, these drugs which aim to decongest the nose. Often associated with an analgesic such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, or with an antihistamine, they can be dangerous. The ANSM lists all the possible dangers associated with these drugs, which can range from impaired vision, seizures, psychiatric disorders, inflammation of the colon, severe skin reactions to cardiac disorders (myocardial infarction by example) or a stroke (cerebrovascular accident). The ANSM warns: all these undesirable effects can occur, whatever the doses taken or the duration of the treatment. In the event of the aforementioned symptoms, it is strongly recommended to stop the treatment and consult a doctor. Many drugs well known to the French are concerned and listed by the ANSM. We can cite Actifed Rhume, Dolirhume, Dolirhumepro, Humex Rhume, Nurofen Rhume, Rhinadvil, Rhinureflex or Rhumagrip.
