Rafael Nadal flies to the rescue of Novak Djokovic . While the Serb was released from the detention center in which he had been held for five days, by decision of the federal court , his future in Australia remains more than uncertain, such as the validation of his visa. If his fate is now in the hands of the government, no final decision will be taken on Monday 10 January.

In the meantime, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal and the Serbian’s great rival asserted a few hours after this judicial decision that “justice had spoken” and that “fairer” was now that the Serbian could play in the Australian Open.

“Even though I may or may not agree to certain things with Djokovic , justice spoke ” and “I believe that the fairest” would be the world number 1, who wishes to enter Australia without being vaccinated against Covid – 11, playing the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, said Nadal on Spanish radio Onda Cero .

Between a few jokes, Nadal however admitted that, on a personal level, he “much prefers that he does not play”, but still wishes him “good luck” for the tournament.
