“My biggest goal is to relive a Grand Slam epic, to go to the quarter-finals or the semi-finals”. A few days ago, it was with our colleagues from Eurosport, that Andy Murray began to dream of an “epic”.

His dream could well come true next January. For good reason, Thursday 14 December, the Australian Open invited him to take part in the first Grand Slam of the season. Due to a long injury absence and therefore not good enough ranking, Andy Murray did not qualify directly for the main draw. But as at the US Open and at Bercy, it will benefit from a wild card.

“Andy is renowned for his fighting spirit, passion and love of the game and I am delighted to welcome him back to Melbourne in January ” said tournament boss Craig Tiley.
