According to 01Net’s Amazon is working on a feature allowing Alexa to make your missing loved ones speak
. news, I share all my suggestions, recommendations and opinions about Amazon is working on a feature allowing Alexa to make your missing loved ones speak
with you. Details are below…
The American firm is working on a solution for its voice assistant to be able to imitate a voice based on a short recording. The purpose of this feature is to allow Alexa to hold a conversation with the intonation of your missing loved ones.
Amazon used its annual re:Mars conference in Las Vegas to showcase upcoming features in Alexa. Rohit Prasad, Vice President and Chief Scientist for Alexa has unveiled a feature that could allow Amazon’s voice assistant to mimic a voice. Based on short audio snippets, Alexa could synthesize the voice and speak using the same intonation, all thanks to machine learning and artificial intelligence.
To show the full potential of this project, a demonstration featuring a child asking Alexa if his late grandmother could finish reading the Wizard of Oz book to him was broadcast. The voice assistant that runs immediately no longer speaks with the usual voice of Alexa, but with that of the child’s grandmother. To achieve this result, Rohit Prasad explains that the technology on which Amazon is working required less than a minute of recording.
“The way we did this is to define the problem as a speech conversion task and not as a speech generation path. We are unquestionably living in the golden age of AI, where our dreams and science fiction come true” he finally conceded.
With this new feature, Amazon no doubt hopes to make Alexa an essential tool for users to bring the memory of their departed loved ones to life. As it stands, the American firm has not indicated when its technology will be available, or if it will be integrated into all devices compatible with the Voice Assistant.
